The Rocky Mountain Outlook, the Bow Valley’s No. 1 source for local news and events, is seeking a reporter to cover the Îyârhe Nakoda First Nation and Kananaskis Country region. This position is covering for a one-year maternity leave and is a hybrid position for both remote and office work.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated and passionate about the diversity and complexity of topics this position offers
  • Relationship-building skills
  • Ability to produce news, general content, short- and long-form features. Article investigation/research required.
  • Proven ability to produce well-written, well-researched content quickly
  • Strict adherence to deadlines
  • Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends
  • Reliable car and driver’s licence

The Îyârhe Nakoda First Nation and Kananaskis Country reporter position was created in 2022 to cover the area’s Indigenous issues, municipal governments in Kananaskis Improvement District and the MD of Bighorn, tourism, the environment, wildlife and breaking news.
