Wester - Daniel (Dan) Ralph Wester of Canmore, Alberta, passed into the presence of His Lord and Savior at the age of 67 on Saturday July 27th, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta. Dan was born February 3rd, 1957, in Brooks, Alberta to O.R. (Ralph) and Althea Wester. Growing up in Tilley, Alberta, Dan thrived on the family farm, a mixed grain and poultry operation. In 1979, Dan and Linda Schneider were married after meeting while attending Hillcrest Bible College in Medicine Hat. They made their life together in Tilley, taking over and expanding the family farm, and raising their family. On retirement from farming in 2013, Dan’s lifelong love of learning took a new hold, and he pursued and completed a Culinary Arts degree at Lethbridge College. 2020 brought a change in scenery, when Dan and Linda relocated to Canmore. In Canmore, they found a vibrant community and established deep friendships. Dan could often be found using his culinary skills and sharing food and hospitality or walking with friends down the mountain and back home. There were also cycling excursions, and quiet paddles on the lakes in his kayak. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Althea, and a sister Debbie. Daniel is survived by his beloved wife Linda; son Greg (Cabrinie) and granddaughters, Octavia and Aurelia and grandson Evander; son Dale (Jody) and grandsons, Benjamin and Reid; his brother David (Susan); sister Tammy (Gary) and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Dan’s generous spirit, listening ear and thoughtful conversation will be missed by many. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 6th, at 11:30 AM from the Brooks Evangelical Free Church. Rev. Jon Chalmers officiated. Interment was held at Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery, Tilley.
