After I moved to Banff from Colorado, my American friends always wanted to know, “What’s different in Canada, eh?” My response: Banffites always have room for one more at the party. It doesn’t matter if space is tight or beer is running low – everyone’s welcome. This welcoming spirit has made living in this jaw-droppingly beautiful place even more incredible, and for that, we’re forever grateful.
After a decade here, there seems to be a shift in the local tone. As locals who are lucky enough to call Banff home, it’s up to us to adapt and ensure our visitors feel just as welcomed. I understand the challenges, but let’s envision the improvements a better Banff Ave. could bring.
Join me in voting yes in supporting Banff council’s decision to have a downtown pedestrian zone on Banff Avenue every summer, where our traditions of hospitality can flourish even more.
This is a busy time of year. If you can’t make the voting dates, be sure to request a special ballet. Let’s keep the party going and the welcome mat out for all who come to enjoy this amazing place with us.
