LETTER: Parks Canada hypocritical with human use limits in Banff National Park

LETTER: No doubt in the near future, Parks Canada will be erecting “no trespassing” signs at the park entry near Canmore to keep taxpayers out.

Editor:

Once again, we see a lead-off article “Parks Canada looking at human use limits due to explosive visitation in Lake Louise” in the Outlook in which Parks Canada elites try to whitewash their total incompetence in managing Banff National Park.

Once again, we taxpayers see these elites blame everyone else for their mismanagement. Parks Canada spends hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars every year advertising to the tourists of the world about the beauty of Banff National Park, then turns around and blames those very visitors as a reason to restrict access to the Park to Canadians.

For decades, Parks Canada’s maintenance of the infrastructure, resources and trails in the Park has been ineffective or more often than not, non-existent.

Until the elitist old boy network that infests Parks Canada is rooted out – in Ottawa and Banff – they and their politician buddies will continue to use the national park as a cash cow while the average Canadian will have our access to “our” national park eroded away. No doubt in the near future, Parks Canada will be erecting “no trespassing” signs at the park entry near Canmore to keep taxpayers out.
