Fight. What’d you hear? Attack. What’d you hear? Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, that’s what you heard, just like a broken record, over and over.

The UCP – a.k.a. Danielle Smith – didn’t even let Naheed Nenshi hit his stride after his landslide victory for leadership of the NDP, and thus leader of the opposition in Alberta.

American-style attack ads were all over social media, seemingly moments after Nenshi’s victory. Smith accuses Nenshi of having direct links to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. It’s a bit of a stretch to suggest Nenshi has any direct partisan ties to the federal liberals.

Nenshi laughed it off, saying he’d put his record of public service up against Smith any day.

Smith happily moved on to fight with Trudeau over the Canadian Dental Care Plan. She says she’s dumping the dental plan, saying “it duplicates coverage already provided to most Albertans”. Interesting because one of the criteria is that you cannot have any other dental insurance – if so, you’re ineligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan.

Smith says the federal plan is confusing. I wonder what the 100,000 Albertans who have already signed on would say?

In true Smith style, she says stay in your own lane, we’ll look after ourselves. But give us Alberta's share of the money before you go.

The Alberta Dental Association asks her to consult with them because they can identify the areas of most need.

It’s hard to believe there’s going to be another three years of this.
