FIELD, B.C. – An adult and child have been taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle collision in Field B.C. around 12 p.m. today.

STARS transported the adult female to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary believed to be in life-threatening condition at the time.

The child, in non-life-threatening condition, was transported by AHS EMS paramedic to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary.

“Alberta Health Services EMS paramedics and STARS Air Ambulance assisted BC Ambulance at a motor vehicle collision near Field, B.C.,” said Adam Loria, AHS public education officer, in an email.

Police said they responded to a two-vehicle collision near Emerald Lake Road on the Trans-Canada Highway.

"Initial investigation showed that a sport-utility-vehicle was rear-ended by a car as they were attempting to turn left off the highway," stated an RCMP media release.

"Passengers of both vehicles were taken to hospital with serious, but believed to be non-life-threatening injuries."

The Trans-Canada Highway has been reopened to traffic.
